Romance
Night Beats
Fox and the Law
The Royal Bear (CD Release)
Night Beats - They currently hail from Seattle but as two of the three members are originally from Texas, it's not hard to pick out the influence of golden age TX psych idols such as the 13th Floor Elevators, Lost and Found and Golden Dawn. They are fresh off of a slot at the 2010 Austin Psych Fest and are rumored to be working on a recording project with members of The Black Angels.

The Royal Bear - They are creating a buzz in Seattle with their anticipated first full length album, Attack, produced by Ryan Hadlock (Metric, Blonde Redhead, The Gossip...). With influences like Joy Division and AC/DC, The Royal Bear is sure to please even the toughest ears. They were founded on the concept that rock music can be fun, danceable, and catchy. They write songs with interesting, melodic riffs and vocal melodies that you can't help but hum to yourself.

Fox and the Law - Their songs are ballsy and robust, featuring flawless and dirty guitar playing. They might remind some people of The White Stripes...they have a very similar feel.

- Record Store Day 4/18/2009
When's the last time you went to an actual record store? Like where you
have to walk through a door and can't just click "download"?
Nowadays, a lot of record stores are going under. People don't like to
leave their houses anymore. This Saturday, though, leave your house to
celebrate Record Store Day! Record Store Day's the idea of a number of independent store owners,
who hope to remind us about the fact that because most folks download
their sounds today, record stores as we know 'em are fast going the way
of Beta and major record labels.
This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores
come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl
and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively
for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various
countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.
We will be playing in Seattle at the Silver Platters in Queen Anne @ 2pm. Also performing will be Toadies @ 4pm and Barton Carroll @ 3pm.
Definitely come out and support your local record stores!
- Seattle Band Romance Climbs To Number One In KEXP's Northwest Music Charts
March 26, 2009 -- Since their late 2008 album release, Romance has stayed in the top ten of KEXP's top Northwest album charts. It is no coincidence that their subject matter has become increasingly relevant to music fans. Delving into the troubled state of the world, the economy and even the human condition, Romance is only one of many. Darker bands are rising in the wake of society's increasing need to have a voice, a perspective and a connection with others during these hard times. Listen to their album here: (http://myspace.com/Romance)
Recently returned from a Post-Punk.com showcase in Austin during the SXSW music festival which featured many bands with similar music themes, Lead singer/guitarist Drew Jackson commented, "Our appeal seems to be spreading to a different group of listeners now, outside of just our typical fan. There have been so many more questions concerning the content of our songs rather than just the style and influences of our music. Listeners right now seem just as turned on by connecting to the message as they are with the mood and sound of our album."
This trend towards music with strong roots in the post-punk era is gaining a lot of ground in the Northwest as many of the other KEXP local chart toppers share similar influences. Romance will be playing a local showcase March 25th at the recently re-opened (http://thecrocodile.com) with Seattle-local bands Hotels, New Faces and The Globes. Romance plans on going back into the studio early fall 2009 to begin recording their second full-length album which will feature songs guided by the same themes as "The Divide." Recently they have also been featured as KEXP's Song of the Day for their single "Face on the Sun."
Formed in late 2005, Romance has been making waves in the underground post-punk music scene since their debut EP, When Things Are Better. They were named one of the top up and coming bands of 2006 by The Stranger and received generous airplay by DJs at KEXP and beyond. Following the success of their debut, the band took two years off before releasing their first full-length, 2008's The Divide, which features mostly new material. In addition to their new album, Romance also lent a track to Post-Punk.com's Notes from the Underground Vol. 3 along with other such modern post-punk luminaries as The Editors, The Futureheads, and VHS or Beta among others.

- "Face on the Sun" KEXP song of the day!
KEXP - Song of the day - Romance-"Face on the Sun" Our song "Face On The Sun" has been chosen as the song of the day on KEXP for January 2nd 2009. If you go to blog.kexp.org you can get a free download!

Fans of Joy Division, Bauhaus, and Echo & the Bunnymen should take a moment to check out today's Song of the Day, "Face on the Sun," by Seattle band Romance. When asked about why it took so long, frontman Drew Jackson admits they released their EP really quickly after forming and wanted to take some time to solidify their sound and work on who they were as a band before heading back into the studio. It was time well spent. Each song on The Divide is cohesive and shows their care and determination to explore the genre without stepping on the heels of their predecessors. In addition to their new album, Romance also lent a track to Post-Punk.com's Notes from the Underground Vol. 3 along with other such modern post-punk luminaries as The Editors, The Futureheads, and VHS or Beta among others.

- ROMANCE releases their debut full length album “The Divide”
Seattle post-punk band Romance release full length follow up to their 2006 EP "When Things Are Better". Will open for The Sisters Of Mercy. Romance debut album The Divide
Nov 03, 2008 – Romance, voted one of the top four up-and-coming bands in Seattle for 2006, releases their debut full length CD “The Divide”. This is the follow-up to their well received 2006
EP “When Things Are Better” ; in rotation on many independent radio stations. The album
drops on November 14th 2008 with a CD release show held that night at King Cobra
in Seattle. The strength of the album has already earned them the opening slot with
The Sisters Of Mercy on November 23rd.Following a two-year break from the recording studio, the addition of a new drummer
(Joshua Fant ex-Post Stardom Depression), and playing countless shows, Romance
has returned stronger than ever with “The Divide”. Comprised of 11 original tracks (9
new songs and 2 re-recorded from their 2006 EP) this album continues their dark,
catchy, post-punk sound. It’s filled with relevant lyrics about world turmoil and an urgent
and dangerous sound.
Romance has recently returned from a West Coast tour to start some early promotion
for the album. Touring with similar dark bands (Veil Veil Vanish, Repeater, and Sleepmask)
they played to large enthusiastic crowds and foresee the emergence of a darker
post-punk scene on the west coast. Romance will soon be sending out their CD to radio
stations such as KEXP which had them in regular rotation. Romance also has a N.W.
tour scheduled for November with the band Repeater.

- Seattle sensations – Romance – rocks King Cobra
-
on june 8th, i went to seel local band, Romance at seattle’s new rock club, King Cobra. this is the band of a couple of old friends of mine drew j. and dave b. i have known drew and dave for the entire 6 years i have lived in seattle, & i have never been so impressed as i was this june evening.
drew’s an excellent front man, & together, they seem to command & enrapture their audience.
this band has a terrific following, comprised of friends and those who have heard of them via word of mouth & myspace.
Romance’s sound is the love child of Bauhaus and The Chameleons. this love child, however, was meant to be.
check them out at www.myspace.com/romance!here are some photos i took of the band:

Romanceoh, and here’s a photo of some fashion disasters that i, somehow, by the grace of god, caught in 1 photograph:

Please note the horrible, red hooker boots & white stretch capris. UGH!!
and last, but certainly now least, here’s one of my bestest friends, lee, look spectacular that evening:
